Message From Our CEO

It is my honor to serve as the 5th CEO of the Athens YMCA - a Y that has been dedicated to its community since 1857. For more than a century and a half, we have remained a constant in Athens and the surrounding counties, committed to strengthening the spirit, mind, and body of every person who walks through our doors. 

 

Right now, we are in a truly special moment in the life of our YMCA. 

 

Phase one of construction is wrapping up, and it has been incredible to watch this place begin to transform. As we step into phase two, we do so with both gratitude and momentum. This project has grown into an $11 million investment in our community, and because of the generosity of so many, we have already raised $6.1 million toward that goal. 

 

Our 90,000 square-foot facility, now over 55 years old, has been the backdrop for generations of memories - children growing up, families finding connection, and individuals of all ages building healthier lives. The Athens YMCA is more than a place - it is a feeling. A place where a grandparent, their child, and their grandchild can all be here at the same time - where people are known, supported, and belong. This project ensures that this space will continue to be a second home for all - for the child, the parent, the working professional, and the active senior - and for the generations who will one day walk through these same doors and create memories of their own.
