Programs offered during Winter 2024:
Please note: Athens YMCA programs operate on a quarter system - Fall, Winter and Spring. Programs are held two days each week - either Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday. Program times are also noted. Please see descriptions below for more details on programs and offerings. *U15 Futsal meets one day per week on Wednesday. There is no Monday practice for this program.
Ballet & Tap will be offered Winter Quarter. This program is designed to introduce children to ballet and tap while developing flexibility and coordination. Dancers will learn age appropriate movements and techniques. A recital will be held at the end of the quarter for dancers to show off their hard work! Ages 5 & 6. All skill levels welcome.
Basketball is offered during Winter Quarter. Our basketball program is designed to introduce beginners, and further experienced players while building self-esteem and incorporating sportsmanship, working as a team, and healthy living. Basketball is offered to ages 5 through 15. All skill levels welcome.
Basektabll Cheerleading is offered during Winter Quarter. This program is designed to introduce youth to the fundamentals of cheerleading. Participants will learn sideline cheers and a halftime routine to perform throughout the season. All skill levels welcome.
Futsal, a version of indoor soccer, is offered during Winter Quarter. Our futsal program is designed to introduce beginners and further experienced players to an alternative style of soccer. The sport is fast-paced and incorporates a more individualistic style of play. The program is intended to build self-esteem, sportsmanship, working as a team and healthy living. Futsal is offered to ages 8 through 15. All skill levels welcome.
Swimming is offered during Fall, Winter, and Spring Quarters. A step by step progression of swimming and water safety skills that enable a child to swim safely, enjoy the water and use swimming as a lifetime fitness sport. This program has five main components: personal growth, personal safety, stroke development, water sports & games and rescue. Each skill level builds upon the preceding level, covers all the strokes, diving fundamentals and safety skills. Throughout all levels, students are taught aquatic safety, boating safety and rescue skills.
The Athens YMCA bus transportation system has been a service provided to several communities for many years. We are honored to serve students in the Clarke County, Jackson County and Oconee County school districts. We also provide bus service to some of the private schools in the Athens area. It is our goal to always remain a strong support system for children and their families. Please email Youth & Family Programs Director Gina Jackson for more details regarding specific schools that have bus transportation.

During certain school breaks, the Athens YMCA offers mini camps called Dynamic Days. Dynamic Days are offered for children ages 5 to 12. Dates for these are below.
