As the leader of our YMCA and a mom, I am committed to keeping our children safe. Preventing child abuse remains the top priority for all staff members and is the foundation for our organizational policies. Every single program we offer from wellness classes to swim lessons must have this foundation of safety. Our belief is that every child deserves a happy, healthy childhood and that each and every one of us plays a role in making this happen.

While our foundation of safety remains throughout the year, we use the month of April, Child Abuse Prevention Month, to spread awareness about child abuse and how to prevent it in our communities. Together with the Lily Pad SANE Center and the Cottage Sexual Assault Center & Children's Advocacy Center, we are hosting two sessions centered around protecting our children at no cost. We encourage anyone who works with children to attend as well as everyone in our communities.

Please join our efforts to bring awareness to all families and community members by widely sharing this information. Our goal through this initiative is to use knowledge, facts, and statistics to motivate everyone in our community to protect our children. These two-hour sessions will be offered on Tuesday, April 19th and Thursday, April 21st from 10 am to 12 pm.

This commitment is ongoing and will take all of us to help make great childhoods happen. Our dedication to the safety of children in our organization and communities does not begin nor end in April.

Thank you for joining our efforts to give our kids what they deserve,
