Please note: Athens YMCA programs operate on a quarter system - Fall, Winter and Spring. Programs are held two days each week - either Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday. Friday programs require an additional registration. Program times are also noted. Please see descriptions below for more details on programs and offerings.

Offered during Spring and Fall Quarters. This program is designed to teach kids at any skill level the styles of modern, hip hop, lyrical, step and contemporary dance. Dancers will be encouraged to show their creativity through movement in an environment that promotes self-confidence, unity and leadership. Dance moves will consist of basic leaps, jumps, and footwork, rhythm and freestyle techniques. Dancers will learn 2-3 dances to perform for family and friends at the end of the quarter. All skill levels welcome.
Soccer is offered during Fall and Spring Quarters. Our soccer program is designed to introduce beginners and further experienced players while building self-esteem and incorporating sportsmanship, working as a team, and healthy living. Soccer is offered to ages 5 through 13. All skill levels welcome.
Offered during Fall and Spring Quarters. This program introduces kids to the fields of science, technology, engineering, art and math through an experiment-based curriculum. This program is broken down into six fun and themed units. Kids will build upon what they've learned with each project to complete bi-weekly STEAM challenges. Ages 5 - 7. All skill levels welcome.
Swimming is offered during Fall, Winter, and Spring Quarters. A step by step progression of swimming and water safety skills that enable a child to swim safely, enjoy the water and use swimming as a lifetime fitness sport. This program has five main components: personal growth, personal safety, stroke development, water sports & games and rescue. Each skill level builds upon the preceding level, covers all the strokes, diving fundamentals and safety skills. Throughout all levels, students are taught aquatic safety, boating safety and rescue skills.
Teen fitness is offered during Fall and Spring Quarters. This program is designed to teach teens appropriate ways to exercise and healthy eating habits. The program will consist of swim classes, spin classes, bootcamp classes and more. All participants need tennis shoes and athletic clothing. Teens will also learn how to care for our YMCA garden. They will plant seeds, pull weeds, spread soil, water plants and learn to cook with produce and herbs. Ages 12 to 15. All skill levels welcome.
Track & Field is offered during Spring Quarter. Our track program is designed to introduce beginners, and further experienced athletes while building self-esteem and incorporating sportsmanship, working as a team, and healthy living. This program introduces kids to every aspect of Track & Field - sprinting, middle- and long-distance, and all field events. Track & Field is offered to ages 6 - 12. All skill levels welcome.

Cost: $45 per day
The Athens YMCA bus transportation system has been a service provided to several communities for many years. We are honored to serve students in the Clarke County, Jackson County and Oconee County school districts. We also provide bus service to some of the private schools in the Athens area. It is our goal to always remain a strong support system for children and their families. Please email Youth & Family Programs Director Gina Jackson for more details regarding specifc schools that have bus transportation.
