Renovation Progress

Grahl Construction and E+E Architects have worked diligently alongside YMCA staff to design a plan that both honors the history of our building and meets the needs of our growing community. Construction will take place in three phases, allowing the facility to remain open and continue serving members throughout the process.

Phase One construction began in September 2025! See photos and highlights below.

We’re excited to share renderings of what the new spaces will look like. These updates will not only enhance the quality of our current programs but also create opportunities for new offerings, including:

• Parent/toddler programs

• Expanded services for adults with special needs

• Enhanced field trip experiences

• And more to come as we grow into our renewed space

Together, we’re building a stronger Y—one that will serve our community for generations to come.

Phase One Highlights:

• A new member entry point and youth center built into the current cardio room, racquetball courts, and strength center areas

• Major site work including parking lot improvements, new sidewalks, canopies, and a redesigned front loop for safer access

• A new parking lot entrance and exit, with the far entrance near the bus stop dedicated to construction traffic

Future phases will continue to modernize our facility, expand wellness areas, and ensure that the Athens YMCA remains a vibrant community hub.
