Trunk or Treat

Join us for our second annual Trunk or Treat at the Y! Trunk registration starts September 1st.

Thursday, October 24th 

5:15 pm to 6:15 pm - children with special needs and their families
6:30 pm to 7:30 pm - open to the public

$2 per child - no cost for children with special needs (benefitting youth financial assistance - cash only)

To promote a safe and fun environment for our children and families, the Athens YMCA is hosting our second annual trick-or-treat alternative. Kids can trick-or-treat from trunk to trunk full of goodies! Up to 70 cars can participate. Register your trunk starting September 1st!

Trunk or Treak Guidelines:

  • Car set-up time: 4:30 pm to 5 pm - all vehicles MUST be ready by 5 pm.
  • Time:
    • 5:15 pm to 6:15 pm - children with sepcial needs and their families (no cost for children with special needs; $2 for siblings)
    • 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm - open to the public ($2 per child)
  • Location: Athens Y parking lot next to the pool.
  • Cost:
    • Trunks: There is no cost for trunks. We hope to have both local businesses and schools participating. There will be prizes and bragging rights awarded in the above categories. 
    • Participants: $2 per child - cash only. No cost for children with special needs. Benefitting youth financial assistance. 
  • Registration: Registration will take place September 10 through October 15, or until 60 spaces are accounted for. Particpants must register with Once they let her know, she will send a guidelines sheet and additional information.
  • Our goal is to have up to 70 cars participate! Each parking space will be numbered. You will be assigned a number once you register. You must park in your assigned space.
  • Ticket: Each child will have a ticket numbered 1-60. Mark off your number once they come through your area. Each child should go through one time.
  • Candy: All cars are responsible for having enough individually wrapped candy or trinkets for at least 1000 participants. No homemade goodies.
  • No participating vehicle can be left unattended.
  • Each trunk must have at least 2 representatives helping pass out candy.
  • No participating vehicle can leave the lot before 7:45 pm.
  • Everyone is responsible for cleaning up their own area.
  • No electricity is available.
  • No pets.
  • Alcohol and tobacco free event.
  • Children 12 and under can participate.
  • All children must enter with a parent or guardian who is 16 or older.
  • Once visit each trunk and exit the trunk or treat area, you cannot re-enter.
  • Costumes are STRONGLY encouraged.
  • No scary or violent decorations.
  • No games.

Please note: In the event of inclement weather or rain, Trunk or Treat will be canceled. We will not host the event if we are unable to host it outdoors.
