Athens YMCA Youth Programs

Winter 2020-2021 Operational Procedures

Monday - Thursday 3:15 pm - 5:45 pm

November 9th, 2020 - February 19th, 2021

Staff

All staff members will be fever screened before their shift begins. Programs will follow CDC guidelines and temperature checks.

All staff will be provided with the appropriate PPE.

All staff will be trained in safety and sanitary procedures as outlined by the our insurance company, CDC and American Red Cross.

Cleaning & Policies

All participants and staff will wash their hands every 60 minutes.

Handwashing or sanitizing stations in multiple locations.

Only select water fountains in use, water bottles are encouraged. 

Door handles will be sanitized every 60 minutes.

Restrooms will be cleaned by YMCA housekeeping staff every 60 minutes.

All YMCA spaces will be deep cleaned at weekly by a contracted company.

All used YMCA spaces will be cleaned with an EPA Covid-19 chemical (Diamond Disinfectant 1000 DSV) each night.

Activities

All equipment will be sanitized after use.

Participants can wear face masks.

Program participants will stay in small groups or teams.

Checking In

Check-in for 3:30 programs ends at 4 pm. No participant can check in past 4 pm. Check-in for 4:30 pm and 5 pm programs will take place between 4:20 pm and 5:10 pm ONLY. No participant can check in past 5:10 pm.

Parents must always remain in their car.

Children being dropped off by parents: Staff members will fever screen each participant at their car. If a child's temperature is higher than 100.4 degrees, they will be sent home. They cannot return to programs until they are fever and fever medication free for 72 hours.

Children riding a YMCA or Clarke County bus: Staff members will fever screen each participant as they get off the bus. If a child's temperature is higher than 100.4 degrees, they will be sent home. They cannot return to programs until they are fever and fever medication free for 72 hours.

Checking Out

Participants must be picked up from programs between 5 pm and 5:45 pm.

No parents will be allowed to exit their vehicle while picking up their child.

We will not accept call ahead pick up requests or written notice for early pickups. Any parent needing to pick up their child before 5 pm must come to the YMCA and wait for their child to come from their designated group.

Program Specifics

YMCA Bus Transportation:

  • Drivers must always wear a mask.
  • Children must wear a mask while on the bus.
  • Drivers will sanitize the bus after each route.
  • Busses will be at 1/2 capacity with distanced seating.
  • Children will be given hand sanitizer as they board the bus.

Swim Lessons

  • Groups can have a maximum of 6 swimmers.
  • Goggles are highly recommended.
  • Lessons will take place in the indoor pool and outdoor pool (seasonal).
  • Participants are encouraged to wear a mask in the locker room.
  • Any materials used for class will be sanitized after each class.
  • Chlorine levels are checked throughout the day and maintained according to CDC and local Health Department guidelines. 

Dance & Cheerleading 

  • Our dance program will be held in a large exercise space.
  • We are limiting the number of participants and will ensure social distancing.
  • Staff will wear a mask.
  • It's optional for dancers to wear a mask during practice.
  • The dance space will be sprayed at least twice per week with a sanitizing solution recommended by the EPA and CDC. 

TaeKwonDo & Kali-4-Kids

  • This program will take place in the basketball gym.
  • Participants will be spaced at least 6 feet apart.
  • Any equipment used will be sanitized after each class.
  • Participants will be encouraged to wear a mask.

Futsal (Indoor Soccer)

  • Teams will practice separately. While in teams, participants will maintain 6 feet of separation when possible.
  • Individual equipment will be used when possible. Soccer balls may be shared provided players only touch the ball with their feet.
  • Equipment will be sanitized after every practice. 

Basketball

  • Teams will practice separately. While in teams, participants will maintain 6 feet of separation when possible.
  • Individual equipment will be used when possible.
  • Equipment will be sanitized after every practice. 

Teen Fitness & Gardening

  • Teens will not be required to wear a mask while working out.
  • Instructors will be required to wear a mask unless teaching a fitness class. Instructors will be socially distant and will immediately wear a mask when the class is over.
  • Teens will not share individualized equipment and all equipment will be sanitized after each use.
