Please note: Athens YMCA programs operate on a quarter system - Fall, Winter and Spring. Programs are held two days each week - either Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday. Program times are also noted. Please see descriptions below for more details on programs and offerings.

To adhere to recommendations for programs we are making changes to our afterschool schedule. Regulations are changing frequently and we are diligently working to ensure we are following protocol to keep your child(ren) safe and healthy. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience. Please know that we are doing our absolute best to provide the best youth programs for our participants.
Fever Screenings: all participants and staff will be required to participate in the fever screening process daily. Fever screening for staff members will be conducted before clocking in and participants will be screened when they are dropped off. Participants and staff members will not be able to attend programs if exhibiting:

Check-In: Check-In will be held between 2:45 pm and 3:50 pm.
Check-Out: Check-Out begins at 5 pm and ends at 5:45 pm. All children MUST be picked up by 5:45 pm or a late fee will incur.
Basketball is offered during Winter Quarter. Our basketball program is designed to introduce beginners, and further experienced players while building self-esteem and incorporating sportsmanship, working as a team, and healthy living. Basketball is offered to ages 5 through 15. All skill levels welcome.
Basektabll Cheerleading is offered during Winter Quarter. This program is designed to introduce youth to the fundamentals of cheerleading. Participants will learn sideline cheers and a halftime routine to perform throughout the season. All skill levels welcome.
Cross Country is offered during Fall Quarter. Our Cross Country program is designed to help your child create and reach goals, increase endurance, inspire sportsmanship, and introduce a life-long sport. Ages 7 through 14. All skill levels welcome.
Offered during Spring and Fall Quarters. This program is designed to teach kids at any skill level the styles of modern, hip hop, lyrical, step and contemporary dance. Dancers will be encouraged to show their creativity through movement in an environment that promotes self-confidence, unity and leadership. Dance moves will consist of basic leaps, jumps, and footwork, rhythm and freestyle techniques. Dancers will learn 2-3 dances to perform for family and friends at the end of the quarter. All skill levels welcome.
Football Academy will be offered Fall Quarter. The coaches are eager to develop your child in the essential football fundamentals: blocking, tackling and ball skills while providing a safe, fun learning environment. Your child will gain an understanding of offensive and defensive schemes while working in noncontact, individualized drills for each football group. All skill levels welcome.
Futsal, a version of indoor soccer, is offered during Winter Quarter. Our futsal program is designed to introduce beginners and further experienced players to an alternative style of soccer. The sport is fast-paced and incorporates a more individualistic style of play. The program is intended to build self-esteem, sportsmanship, working as a team and healthy living. Futsal is offered to ages 8 through 15. All skill levels welcome.
Offered during Spring Quarter (will not be offered Spring 2021). This program introduces children to the fundamental elements of drumming including grip technique, stroke technique, and basic drum beats. Drummers will be exposed to different styles of music in an environment that promotes self-confidence, patience, and teamwork. Drummers will perform for family and friends at the end of the quarter. All skill levels welcome.
Soccer is offered during Fall and Spring Quarters. Our soccer program is designed to introduce beginners and further experienced players while building self-esteem and incorporating sportsmanship, working as a team, and healthy living. Soccer is offered to ages 5 through 13. All skill levels welcome.
Sports Drills are offered during Spring Quarter (will not be offered Spring 2021). Sports drills are offered for children 1st through 8th grade and are comprised of basketball, football and soccer drills. All skill levels welcome. Our drills programs are designed to keep kids in shape during the off season. Drills are designed to introduce beginners, and further experienced players while building self-esteem and incorporating sportsmanship, working as a team, and healthy living.
Offered during Spring Quarter. A brand new program that introduces kids to the fields of science, technology, engineering, art and math through an experiment-based curriculum. This program is broken down into six fun and themed units. Kids will build upon what they've learned with each project to complete bi-weekly STEAM challenges. All skill levels welcome.
Swimming is offered during Fall, Winter, and Spring Quarters. A step by step progression of swimming and water safety skills that enable a child to swim safely, enjoy the water and use swimming as a lifetime fitness sport. This program has five main components: personal growth, personal safety, stroke development, water sports & games and rescue. Each skill level builds upon the preceding level, covers all the strokes, diving fundamentals and safety skills. Throughout all levels, students are taught aquatic safety, boating safety and rescue skills. Monday & Wednesday Swim Lessons are from 3:55PM-4:55PM and Tuesday & Thursday Swim Lessons are from 3:55PM-4:55PM. Drop off from 2:45PM-3:55PM. Please also see the aquatics page on the website.
Teen fitness is offered during Fall, Winter, and Spring Quarters. This program is designed to teach teens appropriate ways to exercise and healthy eating habits. The program will consist of swim classes, spin classes, bootcamp classes and more. All participants need tennis shoes and athletic clothing. Teens will also learn how to care for our YMCA garden. They will plant seeds, pull weeds, spread soil, water plants and learn to cook with produce and herbs. Ages 12 to 15. All skill levels welcome.
Track & Field is offered during Spring Quarter. Track & Field is offered to ages 6 through 12. All skill levels welcome. Our track program is designed to introduce beginners, and further experienced athletes while building self-esteem and incorporating sportsmanship, working as a team, and healthy living. This program introduces kids to every aspect of Track & Field - sprinting, middle- and long-distance, and all field events.
Volleyball is offered Spring and Fall Quarters (will not be offered Spring 2021). This program is designed to teach the basic fundamentals of volleyball. Offered for 3rd - 8th graders. All skill levels welcome.
During certain school breaks, the Athens YMCA offers mini camps called Dynamic Days. Traditional Dynamic Days are offered for children ages 5 to 13, and Teen Camps are offered for teens ages 13 to 15.
The Athens YMCA bus transportation system has been a service provided to several communities for many years. We are honored to serve students in the Clarke County, Jackson County and Oconee County school districts. We also provide bus service to some of the private schools in the Athens area. It is our goal to always remain a strong support system for children and their families. Please email Youth & Family Programs Director Gina Jackson for more details regarding specifc schools that have bus transportation.
Price: $20 per day for the 13-week quarter. Example: if your child does 4 days of transportation, the cost will be $80 for the 13-week quarter.
